Alley & Scott Ashley

I started taking Hap Ki Do classes in March 2004. My husband, Scott (now a Black Belt Student), got me interested and wanting to join Hap Ki Do. He had been going for awhile and was very encouraging to me. I got excited because it was fun and I liked doing Hap Ki Do together with my husband. When Scott proposed marriage, I was so busy working and planning our wedding that I had to quit going to Hap Ki Do. Even though I have been out of Hap Ki Do for over eight months, I still remember everything I learned. That was made very apparent to me two weeks ago when I was attacked.

I was attacked outside my apartment, after dark, by a man. He came up behind me and grabbed me by both arms. I reacted quickly, striking him in the stomach with my elbow. Then, after he was stunned, I delivered a back kick to his groin. When I heard him hit the ground, I took off running for home as fast as I could. I don't think things would have ended up the same way if I hadn't taken Hap Ki Do classes. Hap Ki Do gave me the knowledge and skills to protect myself and escape a very dangerous situation.
