Korean Martial Arts kicks off 2010 Hap Ki Do Championship.
Korean Martial Arts Hee Kwan Lee’s Hap Ki Do School (KMA) held it’s Annual Christmas Party, in conjunction with the 8th Triennial Hap Ki Do Championships Kickoff, at Kellogg Arena on December 15, 2007. KMA won the bid to host the Championships in Battle Creek in 2010 and this party was a gesture of appreciation to everyone who helped make that possible. The Christmas Party/Kickoff was attended by over 400 people and was a huge success. Over 80 representatives from KMA satellite schools in Dexter, Flint, and Grand Rapids traveled to Battle Creek through inclement weather to attend the party. During the party, all KMA students provided awesome demonstrations of their Hap Ki Do skills. The Gospel Quartet, “By Chance” provided beautiful Christmas music during the party. Members of “By Chance” are Aaron Tyler (KMA student), Nancy Micklatcher (KMA Mom), Sue Coller, and Mike Johnson. KMA would like to thank everyone who made this event possible, including Kevin Scheibler and his wonderful staff from Kellogg Arena, “By Chance” Gospel Quartet, the Korean-American Association, O.T.’s Up-N-Smoke BBQ, Asuka Asian Restaurant, and Battle Creek Oriental Store. KMA is looking forward to hosting the 8th Triennial Hap Ki Do Championships in 2010. This will be a competition with approximately 2,000 competitors from around the world competing in the martial art of Hap Ki Do. Competitions will include Team Competition, Kicking, Long and High Falls, Self-Defense, and Free-Sparring. At the 2007 competition in Seoul, South Korea, KMA took the Gold Medal in Team Competition, as well as several Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals in individual competitions. 2010 will be the first time this international competition has ever been held outside the country of South Korea. |
