Hap Ki DoHistory![]() Myung Jae Nam The early Hapkido that Master Choi taught was very much like Daito-ryu aikijujutsu. After the influences of many prominent Hapkido Masters like Master Suh, Master Myung, Jae Nam, Master Ji, Han Jae, and Master Kim Moo Hong. Hap Ki Do began to change, and incorporate many different indigenous Korean Martial Arts techniques. Today Hapkido training stems from Master Choi and the combination of Diato Ryu and the many original Korean Martial Arts. Modern day Hap Ki Do training varies in different schools but most consist of empty hand vs. empty hand training, empty hand vs. weapon training, and weapon vs. weapon training. Hap Ki Do consist of training in joint twisting, throws, holds, chokes, arm and joint locks, strikes, kicks, and weaponry. It is a very integrated Martial art having many components of other Martial Arts. |
