Mr. Ricker was born in Jackson, MI in 1979. He began studying Tae Kwon Do in 1992, but could never find a school that suited him. Finally, he was introduced to Grand Master Lee in 1999 and began studying Moo Moo Kwan Hap Ki Do. It did not take long for Mr. Ricker to realize that Hap Ki Do was the martial art for him. In 2000, Mr. Ricker joined the United States Air Force and became a member of the USAF Security Forces. During his time in the military, Mr. Ricker was trained in physical security, law enforcement and Anti-Terrorism. Mr. Ricker served in Southwest Asia during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002, and was assigned to a Special Security Escort Team as well as an Observation and Reconnaissance team composed of US and UK security troops. Mr. Ricker was also twice assigned to the security team for Air Force One.
Because of his military obligation, Mr. Ricker had to take a break from the KMA dojang for almost 3 years. He returned to continue his training in 2004. After training with Grand Master Lee for almost 9 years, Mr. Ricker was promoted to 3rd Degree Assistant Master Instructor in November of 2008.
