Rob Gillson was born on March 5, 1970 in Oscoda, MI.
His interest in martial arts began at an early age, initially taking him to see any newly released martial arts movie in the area. While in his early 20's, Rob's interested grew to the point where he began looking for martial arts schools in the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo areas. Rob visited many martial arts studios looking for one that suited him.
In the fall of 1994, after seeing an advertisement for the then new location on Dickman Road, Rob visited Grand Master Lee's school. Through a brief but enlightening conversation with Grand Master Lee and Master Schreiner, Rob learned of the versatility of the art of Hap Ki Do.
Rob enrolled the next week and has never looked back. Rob now resides in Battle Creek. Thanks to the encouragement and tutelage of Grand Master Lee, Master Schreiner, and Mike Ormstead, Rob's training has now spanned more than 10 years, during which he has attained the rank of Fourth Degree Black Belt Master Instructor.
