Grand Master Robert Schreiner
8th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido
Master Bob Schreiner was born on December 13, in Battle Creek MI. He started his training in 1977 in the art of Tae Kwon Do at The International Academy of Martial Arts.
He earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and went on to win many local and National events.
When Senior Grand Master Lee came over from Korea in 1979, Master Schreiner began training with him at The International Academy of Martial Arts.
When Senior Grand Master Lee left the school, Master Schreiner stayed at The International Academy of Martial Arts for about a year.
He later tracked down Master Lee and has been with him ever since. Master Schreiner
has earned the level of 8th Degree Black Belt.
Master Schreiner now resides in Michigan with his wife Lisa and their dog.
His training has never stopped and through his hard work with Master Lee, has helped bring the school to the level that it is at today.

Grand Master Mike Ormstead
9th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido
Mike Ormstead was born on March 17, in Flint, Michigan. His Martial Arts training began in Uechi-Ryu Karate, while attending Western Michigan University in the early 1970s. He graduated from WMU in 1974, with a BBA in Business Administration.
In 1983, Mike was introduced to Senior Grand Master Lee on Goguac Lake in Battle Creek, Michigan, while instructing Senior Grand Master Lee in the sports of water skiing kite flying behind a boat. A strong friendship was formed and Mike's training in the art of Hap Ki Do began soon after their meeting. Mike's strong interest in Hap Ki Do has now covered more than 30 years of training with Senior Grand Master Lee and he has attained the level of 9th Degree Black Belt Instructor.

Master Juan Rangel
7th Degree Black Belt in Hap Ki Do
Master
Juan Carlos Rangel Sr. born 11-04-67. Master Rangel has studied the Martial Arts since 1974 (age 6), and has been teaching since 1986. Master
Rangel parents enroll him in the martial arts Kung Fu (praying mantis) and Wing Chun to help him with confidence and to help him to defend against bullies and
rough neighborhood area’s in Texas. Then the family moves to Battle Creek, Michigan and immediately enrolls Master Rangel in the International Academy of
the Martial Arts (TaeKwonDo). In 1982 Master Rangel enrolls in Korean Martial Arts Hee Kwan Lee’s Hap Ki Do School.
In 1987, Master Rangel and Senior Grand Master Hee Kwan Lee became
U.S. citizen in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Master Rangel and Grand Master Hee Kwan Lee went
through the ceremony together to become. U.S. Citizens.
Master Rangel was a Michigan State TaeKwonDo Champion five times
and competed at the National level. He is also a Regional Sport Jujitsu Champion,
Open Karate Forms, and Weapons Champion. Master Rangel has produced many junior Olympian champions.
Master Rangel traveled the U.S to learn from top Master’s, and
various styles to enhance his knowledge in the Martial Arts. Master Rangel has had the honor and
privilege to train with Grand Master Wally Jay, Remy Press, Carloson Gracie, In Sun Seo, Ji Han Jae, Sun Hwan Chung, Young Sook Kim etc.
Master Rangel is very happy knowing that his wife Elena and his
kids Nicole, Carlos, Pearla and Omar actively train in Hap Ki Do.
Master Rangel currently teaches class at Korean Martial Arts in
Battle Creek, Michigan.

Master Rick Pazder
7th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido
Master Rick Pazder was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on March 12,
1972. He grew up in South West Michigan and began his
martial arts
training in 1989 in TaeKwonDo and Habgido, earning his 1st Degree Black
Belt in 1991.
Rick Pazder has sought out and trained with some of the best
Hapkido Masters in South West Michigan, also earning black belts in
Tae
Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do along the way. After becoming a student of
Grand Master Lee, Rick Pazder earned his sixth degree black belt through the
International Hapkido Federation. Rick Pazder is also a
certified Class B-1 Referee through the IHF.
Rick Pazder now lives in the Kalamazoo area with his wife and two
children. He works as a Police Sergeant and he is a Defensive
Tactics Instructor.
Rick Pazder continues to learn and teach Hapkido
at Master Lee’s school.

Master Rob Gillson
5th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido
Rob Gillson was born on March 5, 1970 in Oscoda, MI.
His interest in martial arts began at an early age, initially taking him to see any newly released
martial arts movie in the area. While in his early 20's, Rob's interest grew to the point where he
began looking for martial arts schools in the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo areas. Rob visited
many martial arts studios looking for one that suited him.
In the fall of 1994, after seeing an advertisement for the then new location on Dickman Road,
Rob visited Grand Master Lee's school. Through a brief but enlightening conversation with Grand
Master Lee and Master Schreiner, Rob learned of the versatility of the art of Hap Ki Do.
Rob enrolled the next week and has never looked back. Rob now resides in Battle Creek with his
wife and two children.
His years of training have enabled him to attain the rank of Fifth Degree Black Belt Master
Instructor.

Master Cindy Wagner
4th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido
Cindy Wagner was born in Wisconsin, 1958. She moved to Michigan in 1979 for graduate school, and has lived in Michigan since then.
Cindy became involved in the martial arts later in life, not having had that opportunity in her youth. She studied Tai Chi for a couple years, and fenced competitively for 10 years
(foil, sabre) in regional and national tournaments.
Cindy finally found her “home” in Hap K iDo with Grand Master Lee, in 2007, and has been training with him since that
time. She holds the rank of 3rd Dan.
Cindy was a member of the KMA Demo Team that traveled to Korea in 2009 for the Korean Open; that team won Gold.
She was also a member of the USA/IHF Demo Team that won Gold at the 2010 World Championship in Battle Creek.
Cindy was a member of the KMA/IHF Committee that organized the the 8th Triennial World HapKiDo Championship.
Cindy lives in Battle Creek with her husband, Larry. Their two adult children live in California and Indiana.

Master Tom Burbank
4th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido
Tom Burbank was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on September 12th 1960.
Tom started Hap Ki Do in June of 2005 with his wife of 27 years Kelly.
He started Hap Ki Do because he had always wanted to do martial arts when he was a kid but his family life wouldn't allow it. Tom and Kelly enough of sitting around they have
been helping at KMA ever since.
Tom mainly helps instruct the little eagles class and the kids classes, but is willing to help any age group that he can.
Tom also enjoy refereeing tournaments when I can I has gotten to do things and meet people that would have not been possible before joining Hap Ki Do.
Tom also enjoys spending time with my daughter Marie and my grandchildren Tommi, Phillip, and Dylan.

Assistant Master Tony Spahr
3rd Degree Black Belt in Hap Ki Do
Tony Spahr was born in 1960, in Battle Creek MI. He started his training in 1974 in the art of Uechi-Ryu Karate. Attaining the rank of Ikkyu (Senior Brown) before the school closed.
In the early 80’s, Tony Met Senior Grand Master Hee Kwan Lee and started training in the art of Hap Ki Do. He has trained with Grand Master Lee on and off over for the last 30 years.
Over the years Mr. Spahr has also been fortunate enough to study several other martial arts including Judo, Tai Chi, Moo Yea, and Qigong.
Tony lives in Battle Creek, Michigan with his beautiful wife Sheri, and his two children Anthony, and Daniel.

Assistant Instructor Paul Cha
3rd Dan Black Belt
Paul Cha, born in May 26, has learned HapKiDo since the age of five. He has practiced the martial arts of HapKiDo to help defend him against attackers.
He has competed at many international HapKiDo championships as a student of Korean Martial Arts. Since 2010 he has won many medals at the international championships.
He has gotten 1st place on long fall competition at the 2010 international championship and at the other international championships he has
received 2nd place in HapKiDo long fall, high fall, and group competitions. He has decided to commit to learning HapKiDo by continuing to train and also help
other students to learn HapKiDo. He enjoys very much teaching the young students HapKiDo.
Assistant Instructor Alec Vondell
2nd Dan Black Belt
Alec Vondell, born on June 6th, has been studying
HapKiDo since the age of ten. He enrolled in HapKiDo to defend against bullies
and to protect himself from other attackers. He has participated in many
international Hapkido championships as a student of Korean Martial Arts.
He has
taken 2nd place in HapKiDo Self-Defense. Due his perseverance in
Hapkido it has helped him greatly with his tennis and he is part
of the tennis
team at his school. He is continuing his journey up the ranks and assisting
other lower ranking students to achieve their black belt.

Assistant Instructor Elizabeth Barnes
2nd Dan Black Belt
Elizabeth Barnes is a very sharp 18 years old young lady that has been studying HapKiDo for 11 years to help defend herself. She has competed in many international
championships and received several medals. At international championships she has received a gold medal in sparring, silver medal in self-defense,
bronze medal for weapons form, and silver medal for group competition. She is also the assistant instructor for the Little Eagles and Kids class. Elizabeth has
a patient ability to teach the young children that range in ages from three to 13 years old. Additionally, she is part of the demonstration team for Korean Martial Arts,
where she has opportunities to go many places and show her capabilities. When she is not at HapKiDo, she works at her
family owned janitorial business where she is the vice president. At her work, she has spent time and effort learning how to work hard and develop
as a dedicated leader. Elizabeth wants to continue to develop her skills in HapKiDo and teach what she has learned to any student who may need help.
